Book on Indian English Fiction and Bollywood Films Released at HPU

Shimla. A new scholarly book titled Indian English Fiction and Bollywood Films authored by Dr. Vandana Thakur was released at Himachal Pradesh University.

The book explores the dynamic interface between fiction and cinema, highlighting how both mediums reflect social realities and cultural values in Indian society.

The publication examines the relationship between Indian English literature and Bollywood films, emphasizing how fiction and motion pictures together present a meaningful portrayal of human life, history, culture, and contemporary social concerns.

The book discusses the role of literature and cinema in understanding the psychological, cultural, and social dimensions of society.

It further explains that while fiction provides deeper insight into the inner world of characters, films communicate stories through visuals and expressions for wider public engagement.

Speaking on the occasion, Prof. Mahavir Singh, Vice-Chancellor of the University, conveyed his best wishes and blessings to the author.

He appreciated the scholarly contribution of the book and stated that such academic works enrich intellectual discourse and promote interdisciplinary research in the fields of literature, culture, and cinema.

The Vice-Chancellor also expressed hope that the publication would prove to be a valuable resource for students, researchers, academicians, and readers interested in literary and cultural studies.

Present among others were Dean Planning Prof. Joginder Singh Dhiman, Dean CDC Prof. Hari Mohan and (Retd. Deputy Registrar) Sohan Singh Thakur.
