Shimla. Covid 19 pandemic struck the world by surprise. No country in the world was ready to face it. Since it was a new disease, nothing was known about it to any body including the doctors.

All the governments put in their best to fight the disease. In the beginning the number of cases was very small in the state of Himachal Pradesh as compared to other states.

However, as the second wave started suddenly and with force, there was a sudden spurt in cases. As time passed, the numbers kept on swelling. This put a lot of pressure on the health infrastructure of the state.

In spite of the limited knowledge of the new disease, the limited resources at their command and limited man power, the doctors of the state took up the challenge and attended to their duties 24×7.

They did not even go to their families for many days and kept on doing their duties with dedication and full devotion as warriors. This has resulted in the marked reduction in the number of cases in the state.

Rotary Club Shimla has all along been doing its best to help the medical community for alleviating the effects of covid19.

Club provided masks, sanitizers, PPE kits and oxygen cylinder trolleys to IGMC and DDU Hospitals.

The club also spread awareness among the local population and the tourists regarding the use the corona appropriate behaviour, such as washing hands, keeping physical distance and using masks.
